It also covers the children and spouses of lawful permanent U.S. residents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have a U.S. citizen fiance, you are a child to a fiance, a widow of a U.S. citizen, a victim of domestic abuse or extreme cruelty by a spouse, a parent of a child of a U.S. citizen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><b> Employment-tied Green cards<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can get the Green card if you secure a job in the U.S. under the following conditions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>First preference<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; (EB-1), which is for foreigners with extremely extraordinary skills or have done outstanding research work<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Second preference<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; (EB-1), professionals who have attained advanced degrees<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Third preference <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; (EB-3), for a highly skilled worker or professional<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Immigrant Investor <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; (EB-5), for foreigners who invest at least $1.8 million into a new startup that not only employs at least 10 qualified professionals but demonstrates value addition to the U.S. economy. If the foreigner is investing in a high unemployment sector of the economy, the minimum investment amount drops to $900,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><b> Special Immigrants Status<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Special Immigrant Status in the U.S. Green card covers a wide range of cases. From people like religious leaders, TV hosts for major U.S. Global Media, and employees who have been recognized internationally like recognized by NATO.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><b> Refugees and Asylum-seekers<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People who immigrate to the U.S. as refugees can apply for Green card after having stayed in the country for at least a year.
